About Cape Fear Serpentarium
The Cape Fear Serpentarium is a unique facility located in Historic Downtown Wilmington, NC. Founded in 2001 by expert herpetologist Dean Ripa, the Serpentarium is a 10,000-square-foot structure that features 54 displays that house more than 40 venomous species of snakes, five large bays featuring giant constrictors, and three full-fledged interior habitats housing three species of crocodile. Other displays are the homes for several large and exotic species of lizards. In all, there close to 150 animals on display at any given time, some so rare – and venomous – they are not exhibited anywhere else! The Cape Fear Serpentarium has been featured on Discovery TV, Animal Planet, Attache Magazine, Oxford American Magazine, the Wilmington Star News and many other public media outlets. Scientists and tourists alike visit from all over the world to view animals that can be seen nowhere else. The Cape Fear Serpentarium is recognized as one of the world’s foremost reptile collections.

My younger brother had his birthday party here last year and it was a blast, even for the adults! It was on feeding day, which I was wary about, but it was really interesting! The guy who lead our tour was super nice and really informative. I would definitely recommend checking this place out when you’re in town.
