Banyan Asian Cafe
About Banyan Asian Cafe
Tucked inside the Ramada Inn on Market Street is this Asian Restaurant called Banyan Cafe. Banyan’s menu is a wide range of authentic Southeast Asia dishes. The unusual satay chicken and spring rolls share the menu with such lesser-known items as Vietnamese tamarind soup with pineapples, chicken and vegetables, and Cambodian loc lac, which is thinly sliced, marinated beef with peppered lemon and teriyaki sauces. As stated by Star News Correspondent “Banyan Asian Café offers some of Wilmington’s best Asian food in the more unlikely of places – a chain hotel. Don’t miss it.”
Don’t let the location fool you — really good Southeast Asian food! I must admit being skeptical walking through the Ramada Inn parking lot to this restauarant — it just didn’t strike me as the place to find great Asian food. Boy, was I wrong. Not only is it very tastefully decorated inside, the service was great and the food delicious. I had a mildly spicy catfish and vegetable dish that I can’t pronounce, and loved it. The place is very reasonably priced at lunch (don’t know about dinner prices), and is one of those “local secrets”. Try it.
